The second INNSA Conference was held on 15th March in Derby and brought together over 100 representatives from all areas of the industry.
The day started with a welcome from the Chairman, Mike Clough, and was hosted by steering group member, Nick Hartley.

People often say to me… ‘Why has Japanese knotweed suddenly become such big news?’… ‘it’s been around since 1840, why is it only just beginning to register as an issue?’…
Well – there is actually a technical reason for this…. invasive non-native species go through a series of… ‘phases’… as they settle into a new environment.

We have yet again been amazed by a telephone call received this week in our office, when I thought we had heard it all, we could not believe our ears overhearing one of our Surveyors explaining some facts about Japanese Knotweed and that it couldn’t be treated in just one treatment and that lifetime guarantees are not worth the paper they are written on!

In recent weeks the INNSA Steering Group members have met with a number of different stakeholders, ranging from the Building Societies Association and individual mortgage lenders, to trade bodies such as the HBF and NHBC. In every case there has been a warm reception for the INNS Code and the rigorous approach that INNSA has taken to setting demanding standards for the invasives industry.

The INNSA Conference which will be held on 15th March is attracting delegates from a wide variety of backgrounds. There are of course a large number of invasives consultants and contractors who will be in attendance.
